Maybelle's Kill the Lettuce

4 strips bacon
2 to 3 bunches leaf lettuce, washed and drained
8 to 10 green onions, sliced including tops
hot bacon grease
Fry bacon until crisp. Crumble and set aside. Leave bacon drippings in skillet.

Tear lettuce into bits and place in bowl. Add green onions and toss. Add crumbled bacon; pour hot bacon grease over salad.

Cucumber Soup

6 big cucumbers
1 cup half-and-half
salt and pepper to taste
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/3 stick butter

Peel and slice cucumbers. Put in pan with small amount of water. Cook until tender. Drain, put in blender with half-and-half, salt, pepper, garlic powder, adn cream of tartar. Blend until smooth. Transfer to pan on stove. Add 1.3 stick butter, and simmer for 10 minutes.
Salt and pepper to taste?
