About Joanne Thompson:Joanne Thompson, a native of Greer, South Carolina, has been a part of Christian television for almost 35 years. She and her husband Jimmy launched WGGS TV in Greenville, South Carolina back in October 1972 which became the home for their television outreach.
Every year for almost 30 years, Joanne has coordinated an outreach to help meet the needs of the underprivileged in Appalachia to provide coats, blankets, clothing and toys during the Christmas season. She also has traveled numerous times to Romania and Moldova starting in 1990 to help needy children living in orphanages. What started as a one time journey to "rock the children" and show them love has turned into a larger project of providing medical care and renovating several orphanage buildings.
Joanne continues as one of the hosts of WGGS TVs "Nite Line" program in addition to her duties as co-host of "You Can Make It" along with Tammy Faye Messner. She continues to produce one-hour ministry documentaries, many of which have been honored with Angel Awards for "excellence in Christian media."
Joanne is celebrating her 51st wedding anniversary this year. She has three sons and a grandson.
